After the recent terrible events back in Paris, I was not really in a mood for writing for a few days. Luckily my family and close friends were all safe. I spent a lot of time watching the French news online and other videos on social media… I read several articles, testimonies, letters, comments with very different views and reactions, which some left me with mixed feelings. I am not very good at expanding myself compared to so many, so I won’t start. The only thing I would say is that I feel very sad and my thoughts are with those who disappeared, but at the same time we should not forget others who perished in similar terrible events in other countries a few days and weeks before.
So I am posting a few photos of a street gathering which was held last month in Sydney on the occasion of the Italian Food Festival on Norton street in Leichhardt. It was a beautiful day that day. Many people attended. The atmosphere was lively and joyful. There was so much food to taste! I was very tempted by the gnocchis handmade in front of you, but I gave up when I saw the very long queue…I enjoyed all of it! Festivals are part of the Australian lifestyle and should remain so, but not only here. Nobody should dictate us not to gather with our friends, neighbours and others at festivals, concerts, restaurants, cafés, bistrots, etc., so let’s continue to be together. I hope back home, despite the current heavy atmosphere, you will be able to overcome your fears and go back to normal life. Paris, I will be back soon. Fluctuat nec mergitur.
