On my way back to Europe for the next couple of weeks, it is about time that I share with you my favourite spots (coups de coeur) in beautiful Prague where I travelled to for work and leisure from time to time for almost 7 years from 2008 to 2015. I met great people, some of them have become good friends, and I enjoyed eating out with them not just like a tourist.
Another thing I loved was to walk throughout the city and discovering all the hidden passages. My favorite one being the Lucerna passage with the hanging horse. It was just a barely 2 min walk from my hotel. Also very practical when the weather was not nice to reach Wenceslas square (Vaclavské Namesti). Over the years I saw shops closing and new ones reopening. Definitely worth a stroll if not going to the Lucerna cinemas. The passage is lively with lots of food shops, like a wine bottle shop, a French cheese shop and a patisserie among others.
If you are into The Arts, I would suggest to book an opera performance at the Prague State Opera House so you can see the beauty of the buidling, and go to the Mucha Museum
I used to stay at The Icon hotel, and from time to time at Fusion Hotel
If you more of a wine person, head to these two wine bars which are my favourites: Monarch being a bit more casual than Grand Cru
If you are more into cocktails, the rooftop bar at the Hilton will offer you great views: Cloud 9
For breakfast or afternoon tea, try the Café Savoy
For dinner, I went several times to these fining dining places: the food is very nice and the service very good and friendly.
Italian cuisine: Kogo / La Finestra / Grosseto / Aromi / Pasta Fresca
Indian: K the two brothers
Czech: Mlynec
And a bit of shopping: Lavmi (Czech designer wallpapers and accessories), Apropos (lifestyle, homewares, tableware and linens)
Last but not least, pack up your yoga gear to escape the tourist crowds at the yoga studio Yogame and then enjoy a relaxing moment at the Spa: Planet Zen
Hope you will enjoy my list to plan for your next weekend there with my map below.
