Date : Saturday 4th February 2017
Lieu : a cute little flat in Montmartre

Workshop highlights:

What are we going to do?

This first session will be all about winter. Because it is the season where everyone feels comfy at home, enjoying the day light as long it is there, indulging into home made yummy treats and warming drinks, parents and children alike. Throughout the day, Ophélie and I will bring you the right technical tips for you to develop further your own voice. This workshop is 100% hands on!

We’ll learn how to produce content from small things and how to find solutions when you shoot by yourself. We will place us in front of the camera and explore how to frame and shoot whilst cooking to make beautiful shots of the recipe process by integrating parts of the body.

Before starting the day, we will review together some of the food photography basics we believe are key.

  • We will learn how to master the manual mode
  • We will learn to work in small spaces, with or without a tripod
  • We will learn how to shoot with natural light
  • We will have fun briefs and a visual introduction to explore our cameras, lenses, lighting, framing, composition, texture, perspective and mood.
  • We will share really fun secrets and insider tips so that your pictures and style can stand out
  • We will learn some food styling basics

This workshop is 100% hands on! We will learn all the nuances to showcase the food while having fun and experiencing different styles of photography and food styling.

There won’t be any boring theory or complicated technical terms during the day, the aim is to simplify the set to allow you to quickly get nice results. Instead, we will learn by interacting and engaging all our senses and especially by getting your hands dirty. We will learn to control our cameras and take advantage of the manual mode.

What are we going to eat?

A lovely morning tea will get you started as you eat, shoot and acquaint yourselves over cups of tea and baked goodies. You will also be able to sit down to a delicious lunch with us and discuss all things related to blogging, food, photography, styling or anything else. Warm tea and coffee will keep you fuelled through the day and you’ll get to enjoy a wonderful afternoon tea.

What are we going to do?

For this workshop, we are getting together with Bénédicte, a real Parisian and chef of The Parisian Kitchen, where you can discover more about her world in a recent post here. We want to create mood boards focusing on recipe prepping, learn how to showcase ingredients. The aim will be to build a visual story around these recipes and the dishes we will be eating throughout the day.

We will explore portraiture in the food industry, how to manage models for our photos, but also learn to style a table and guests gatherings or a chef working in his kitchen. For this matter Bénédicte will kindly play the model for you whilst providing a cooking demonstration.
