‘Around our Table’ – Food photography & styling workshop: countryside to city – sept 2016

September 10, 2016
around our table workshop

I am back on the blog after a nice and relaxing holiday in Crete, doing yoga and exploring the East part of the Island (I will blog about it very soon). I am also very impatient to move back into my little flat in Montmartre which is planned for the beginning of October and I will probably make some small changes to my kitchen in order to accommodate my bigger collection of ceramics… (I will show you some images of these changes).

For now, I am excited to announce the launch of our (Ophélie & I) very first ‘Around our Table‘ food photography and styling workshop. We have been cherishing this project for a while and we have worked hard to prepare for you a workshops series here in Paris and elsewhere.

If there’s one thing that defines us is that we are both “gourmandes”! And we all know that some food images are more mouth watering that others. With the benefit of our different backgrounds that made it possible for us to work together around food photography, we really wanted to share those experiences with you. These workshops are for us an opportunity to provide you with some guidance , so when you come to do a food shoot for your blog, Instagram or for your business, you don’t just pop your camera on auto mode and hope for the best; you know exactly what you’re looking for to best show off the food you’re shooting.

Then to make the summer last and keep the holiday feeling linger, we are taking you to the outskirts of town to a green setting, a little like countryside to city…

This first 1-day workshop will run as follows:

Date: 24th September

Venue: the backyard of a lovely town house in Rambouillet

Time: 10:00 to 17:00

Cost: 280 € – includes all welcome gifts, materials, coffee/tea, lunch and refreshments and lots of pretty food to photograph (transport not included).

Workshop highlights:

* Use the manual settings on your camera.
* Understand how light works and just how you can use it to enhance your food images and change the feel of your shot.
* Find the best light indoors and/or outdoors and create amazing shots each time.
* Know which angle to shoot from and how to compose your image.
* Know the difference between hard and soft light and how it can transform your images.
* In which situations to shoot handheld or with a tripod.

Visual storytelling

* Tell a visual story from different moments of the day and create a photo journal.
* How we choose a shooting space and how we select props to fit the scene.
* Know how to understand trends and get inspired to build your own photographic voice.

Incorporating the human element

A huge part of our work is including the human element in our food stories. We’ll talk about how we accomplish this – what our setup looks like. We’ll have opportunities for you to capture those action shots that add so much life and movement to a photo. You’ll get a chance to be in front and behind the camera.

This workshop is for you if:

*You have a DSLR camera, but you use the auto settings and you want to learn how to take photos like a pro.
*You’re a blogger, wellness coach, chef, food business owner and you want to learn how to take food photos that connect with your audience.
*You’ve been taking photos of food for a little while and want to learn how to make them more stylish.

Places are limited to make sure that each attendant get the most out of the workshop and enough time for 1-to-1 session.

To secure your seat, please send us an email at and we will send you a link for payment (via paypal) in return. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or dietary requirements.

We look forward to welcoming you and spending a fun day together!
